Summary
- Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is a completely preventable set of birth defects and neurodevelopmental abnormalities.
- The safest way to ensure your baby is not at risk of developing FAS is to consume no amount of alcohol while pregnant.

- Documentation of all three facial abnormalities (smooth philtrum, thin vermillion and samall palpebral fissures)
- Documentation of growth deficits
- Documentation of Central Nervous System abnormality
- The effects of FAS may include physical, behavioural, and/or learning disabilities.

- Comorbidity with a number of other disorders can further complicate diagnosis.
